Every Wednesday needs...

A GIVEAWAY!

That's right friends, let's celebrate the work week being officially halfway over with a little giveaway on the blog.  I am going to keep things simple this time but I think you will really enjoy these giveaway treats!  My giveaway theme this time is Words!

About a year ago I guess, I saw a book on Amazon.  It was called Freefall to Fly.  I read the summary of the book and a few of the reviews and honestly, I was not drawn to the book.  But the cover, the cover was calling my name.  Do you ever buy books just because the cover is cute?  Yeah, I don't either!  :)

So the book came and I was simply not prepared for what these words were going to do in my heart.  I devoured this book in just a few short days.  I highlighted and underlined words, phrases, whole pages.  This book is that good friends.

The author Rebekah Lyons tells a beautiful story of her journey to really understand the questions "Why am I here?" and "Does my life matter?".  I don't about you friends, but these are questions I wrestle with all the time.  Here is one of my favorite passages from the book...

"I was reminded by a dear friend, "If you are in hell, keep walking."  Because somewhere along the way, if you stay int he place where your heart breaks and you put one foot in front of the other, the darkness will eventually lift.  The crack of light will burst forth on the horizon, far, far away.  It will be the slightest breath of hope.  You won't know what that light will yield , but the mere fact that it is light will be enough"

Seriously friends, that is some good stuff!

About a week ago I received some extra exciting mail...the new Ellie Holcomb CD, As Sure as the Sun.  I was first introduced to Ellie by listening to her husbands band Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors.  Some of my great friends shared one of their CDs with me and I was hooked!  I love their sound, their heart for the Lord and that they are deeply involved in the ministry of Young Life.  Ellie just released her first solo full length album and I am in love!  The lyrics hold such truth and beautiful reminders.  Here is an interview with Ellie where she talks about her new project and the heart behind it!

So, here is what you will get with this giveaway friends...

  1. Hi friend. I am loving any book, that isn't Junie B. Jones (I haven't read a fr me book since Twilight. Sigh.) Music-wise I've got John Legend running through my head nonstop this week. I am in Brooke withdrawal so I'm so glad I'll see you tomorrow!!!

  2. Favorite book is anything my little boys select as a bedtime story...during the school year I don't have enough time to read for pleasure, so I indulge in snuggling in who the boys at bedtime and reading. Mama Llama seems to be their favorite at the moment! My time right now is "Happy" by Pharrell Williams...nothing quite like jamming and smiling with the family to get things started each day! Thanks for always being so inspiring!

  5. Oh, friend! What a wonderful giveaway. I just finished reading Jesus Is _______. by Judah Smith and I was BLOWN AWAY! It's truly incredible and changed a lot of my views on sin and Christ's love for us. Music- bluegrass! It's my dream to learn how to play the mandolin and be in a bluegrass band. I haven't conquered the mandolin yet, but I did just learn how to play the spoons. ;) All my love to you!

  6. Isaiah has been seriously floating my boat lately...and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Adventures of Sherlock Holmes made physical (ok, massage) therapy go a LOT smoother today.

Erick Hauck's CD Dusty Little Feet just came in the mail the other day. I love new/old music.

  7. I haven't yet bought this book OR CD, so I'm super excited about this giveaway!

I'm re-reading a book right now that comes off my bookshelf every two years or so. It just reminds me to slow down and look at life with fresh eyes, to really pay attention to what is happening around me. It teaches me again and again to really see, instead of just look. It's called A Touch of Wonder by Arthur Gordon.

Music? Hmmmm.....the iPod is on all-song shuffle these days, but I find myself seeking out Mandesa's Good Morning and Overcomer quite often!

Love you, friend!! Thanks for sharing!

  12. Right now I am falling in love with oldies all over again, or for the first time, thanks to my girls. Anne and her puffed sleeves, Lucy and the wardrobe, Laura and her sisters in their log cabins. So good. As for music? I am all of a sudden drawn to the lyrics of hymns I miss singing.
